Barry Skurkis, associate professor of art, is the featured artist in a one-person exhibit at Ainsworth Gallery in Joliet. He has 39 block prints and seven stone sculptures on display, Aug. 13 through Sept. 24.
He has served as a juror in three recent art shows. He was a juror for the national photo competition “Open Lens,” held June 1 to July 16 at Gallery 7 in Joliet. He viewed more than 400 entries, and at the show’s opening reception he gave a critique on a photograph he selected for an honorable mention. He served as a juror at the Naperville Woman’s Club Fine Art Fair in July and helped select winning work. Also in July, he served as the sole juror for the Photographic Arts Society Members Exhibit at the Ainsworth Gallery in Joliet. At the reception, he gave a gallery talk and critique that focused on the award recipients.
