More than a year and a half ago, a subcommittee of the College’s Crisis Task Force set out to investigate warning notification systems for the campus. After much research, the College chose an outdoor alert warning system from Federal Signal. That system has been installed and is ready for testing.
On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the campus community will hear both a verbal message and tone testing from outdoor speakers at various points of the day to ensure the system is in compliance and functioning properly.
The outdoor alert system includes two clusters of speakers on the roof of Carnegie Hall and five clusters on the roof of Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. It allows for both pre-scripted messages and live voice bulletins in the event of a major emergency on or around our campus.
The system will be fully functional in November and ready for monthly testing on the first Tuesday of every month just after 10 a.m. and the City of Naperville’s test of its sirens.
