“North Central’s sport management program is unlike anyone else’s. I met people who are in the jobs I want to be in and I chose internships where I’m doing what I want to do.”
Brianna’s studies in sport management exposed her to what goes on behind the scenes of athletic competition. An internship with the athletic department taught her how to run a meet, recruit, set up equipment, and work with men’s and women’s programs. Her classes covered topics from economics to human resource management. Her role as a sportscaster with the student-run WONC-FM reinforced her desire to work at ESPN someday.
That desire was fueled when she attended the NCAA Sports and Entertainment Summit. “I networked with people from all over the country. It was a great experience that every sport management major should do.”
