Clara knew after one campus visit that she would be happy at North Central. She found everything she was looking for in a college—accessible professors, elaborate study abroad programs and a wide variety of campus clubs.
“The opportunities here and the support from the East Asian Studies faculty are the best,” she says.
An active member of the student group ASK (Asian Student Konnection), Clara has taken full advantage of multiple study abroad opportunities. She took classes at Seoul National University in South Korea and will spend two terms studying in Japan. During that time, she also will intern at a local school.
Clara is interested in Japanese-Korean relations and plans to pursue a master’s degree after she graduates from North Central.
UPDATE: Clara is pursuing a master of arts in Korean studies at the University of Hawai’i and was awarded an East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship as well as a Foreign Languages and Area Studies (FLAS) Summer Fellowship. She is considering returning to Seoul National University to study under its Intensive Language Program.
