Education - Literacy
North Central College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Education to begin September 1, 2014. Appointment at the rank of assistant professor is anticipated, but higher rank may be considered for suitably qualified candidates. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Literacy, Reading or a related field at time of appointment and a minimum of three years of teaching experience in a P-12 setting. Applicants should be able to teach a variety of language arts and reading courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs, including courses required for the Illinois Reading Teacher endorsement. Candidates should demonstrate a potential for excellence in teaching at the college level as well as a commitment to scholarly work and service to the profession. The position may also involve opportunities to teach in one or more of the College’s interdisciplinary programs, such as Environmental Studies, Gender and Women’s Studies, Global Studies, History of Ideas, Urban and Suburban Studies, and the College’s honors program.
