North Central College Campus in the Fall

First Year Orientation

Welcome to the Cardinal Family

Your first year sets the tone for your entire college career. We have an exciting and comprehensive vision for this important transition year–we call it the First Year Seminar (FYS). It goes beyond Summer Orientation and Welcome Week and includes all the keys to your success: Building a strong relationship with your faculty mentor, engaging in your First Year Seminar and taking advantage of unique opportunities during December Term. We don’t just give you a map—we walk with you every step of the way.

If you would like to contact us directly, please call 630-637-5410 or email orientation@noctrl.edu.

Cardinal Camps 2020

August 14-18

Sign up for a Cardinal Camp to get a valuable jump-start to your college experience.  From the City of Chicago to the Cabin life of Southern Illinois to the deserts of Utah, each unique opportunity is designed to connect you with new friends, faculty and staff while introducing the foundational values that are integral to a North Central College education.  Shared moments of adventure, discussion, exploration and service provide an unforgettable immersion into life as a Cardinal – a life that will be shaped into an “informed, involved, principled and productive” leader.

Welcome Week 2020

August 19 - 23

If you are a resident student, you’ll be met by an energetic throng of students, staff and alumni when you pull up to the curb the week before classes. They  will make the move-in process literally “no sweat.” If you are commuting to campus in your first year, you'll be met by that same excitement as you check in on August 19. From there, a whirlwind week of excitement begins.

We’ll cover the nuts and bolts to ensure you’re fully acquainted and equipped with everything you need—ID cards, class schedules, books and maps. But you’ll also get a jump-start on our academic environment and you'll experience a jam-packed schedule of fun and exploration that takes you from downtown Naperville to downtown Chicago. You’ll enjoy music, comedians, competitions, service projects and even a Casino Night.

Most importantly, we’ll introduce you to the values, mission, and traditions that have made North Central a special place for more than 150 years. From the formal opening Convocation to the century-old Torch Light Parade—and the ensuing pep rally of epic proportions—you’ll quickly learn why “North Central is the school we love.”
