North Central College appreciates the need for support regarding diversity, equity and inclusion. We have dedicated and trained staff committed to filling that need who are available to anyone in the campus community.
On-Campus Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resources
The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion responds to all reports of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation of which it is made aware. The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion also consults with faculty, staff, departments, the President’s Task Force on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and President Hammond on how to address issues of diversity and inclusion.
The Bias Incident report can be submitted by the person who experienced the behavior or a third-party. Bias incident reports can be submitted anonymously, however, anonymous reports may limit the College’s ability to respond.
Bias Incident Response Team and Bias Education Team
The College’s Bias Incident Reporting system is a mechanism for individuals to report a bias-related incident, such as discrimination, harassment or a hate crime, whether as a victim or witness to the incident. Reports are promptly reviewed by the College’s Bias Incident Response Team (BIRT), founded in 2016.
The College’s Bias Education Team (BET) was established in 2017 to support an inclusive atmosphere that fosters respect, embraces differences and welcomes diversity on campus. The Team works to provide education and learning opportunities to prevent and educate the community about bias-related attitudes and behavior.
North Central College strives to grow in diversity, equity and inclusion through the work of our faculty and staff, the openness and honesty of our students, the support of our alumni, and the continuing commitment of the entire North Central community.
