Illinois State Historical Society honors North Central College on Sesquicentennial

Sep 10, 2012

The Illinois State Historical Society has honored North Central College, which recently celebrated the 150th anniversary of its founding.

The state awarded the College a 2012 Centennial Award during a Sept. 8 reception at the Executive Mansion in Springfield. Centennial Awards are presented to organizations, businesses and municipalities that have operated continuously in Illinois for 100 or more years.

North Central College also received the state honor in 2004, but a second designation was sought this year in honor of the College’s Sesquicentennial. Visit historyillinois.org to learn more about 2012 Centennial Award honorees.

North Central College’s yearlong celebration of its 150th anniversary included publication of books about the College, production of a five-part documentary series produced in conjunction with Naperville Community Television, fine arts performances and other special events.
