Chemistry demo featuring Bob Becker, open to campus and community

North Central College and ChemWest co-present a free chemistry demonstration by award-winning high school chemistry teacher Bob Becker at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Pfeiffer Hall.

Becker will conduct some 20 exciting chemistry demonstrations, including the Pringles Rocket, the Flaming Vapor Burn and the Whoosh Bottle. He has presented more than 180 workshops and demonstrations across the country and writes about his experiments in numerous publications. His recent awards include the 2011 Missouri Teacher of the Year Award and the 2012 Missouri Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

Becker received his B.A. from Yale University and M.Ed. from Washington University and has authored two chemical demonstration books, “Twenty Demonstrations Guaranteed to Knock Your Socks Off, Volumes I and II,” published by Flinn Scientific.
