Broadcasting student paired with alum to cohost radio morning show

Sep 19, 2012

Many North Central College alumni have successful careers in radio, largely thanks to the strength of the College's broadcast communication program and student-run radio station, WONC-FM 89.1.

But sometimes broadcasters begin their professional careers while they're still students. That's the case of Anna Kopsky '14, who has joined the staff of WSSR-FM/Star 96.7. She can be heard from 5 to 9 a.m. weekdays delivering news and traffic reports and serving as co-host of the "Cooper In The Morning Show."

The new morning show is hosted by Josh Cooper, the radio name for North Central alumnus Zach DeWitz '05. Cooper has been with WSSR-FM since April 2006, having worked the midday shift and doing morning news and traffic reports for the last few years, Chicagoland Radio and Television reported.

WSSR-FM/Star 96.7 is a music station that plays current hit songs and favorites from the last 20 years. The NextMedia-owned station, headquartered in Crest Hill, serves the western and southern suburbs.
