North Central College recognized as a Military Friendly School for 2013

Sep 19, 2012

North Central College has been named a 2013 Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs magazine.

The 2013 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students. This is the second consecutive year North Central College has earned the recognition.

Among its military-friendly initiatives, North Central College provides a veteran services program funded by an Aurora Foundation grant that enables the College to designate student-veteran peer leaders who help build camaraderie among veterans and help the College understand and serve their needs.

This is the fourth year G.I. Jobs has surveyed student veterans and used the feedback to provide prospective military students with insight into the student veteran experience at a particular institution based on peer reviews from current students. Student veteran survey feedback may be viewed at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com/mfsList.aspx.

North Central College provides financial and other benefits to student-veterans, including:
·    Scholarships and tuition discounts offered to military students and veterans
·    Military students called to active service can resume education upon return without penalty
·    Scholarships and/or tuition discounts offered to dependents of active service members

“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools shows North Central College’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs and vice president at Victory Media. “As interest in education grows we’re thrilled to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.”

The 1,739 colleges, universities and trade schools on this year’s list prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience. The survey’s methodology may be viewed here.
