North Central College students will perform “The Flu Season,” a contemporary play about the pain and joy of life.
Four performances of “The Flu Season” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11-13 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 14 in Madden Theatre at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. “The Flu Season” is written by Will Eno and examines the act of making a play and the play itself. A man and woman fall in and out of love with one another, a play gets written and rewritten, while the characters explore the meaning of life.
North Central’s production is directed by guest artist Ted Hoerl, who directed the College’s production of “Stage Door” in 2010. Hoerl has been working in the professional theatre since 1971 when he started at Houston’s prestigious Alley Theatre. He has directed, produced, designed or stage managed at more than 50 theatres and acted in more than 100 plays for such theaters and companies as Chicago’s Goodman, Remy Bumppo, Shattered Globe, New American, Next, About Face, Shaw Chicago and Organic theatre companies. In addition to directing, his career credits include casting films and commercials, teaching and guest speaking.

North Central College offers majors in theatre or musical theatre and a minor in dance. A full range of acting and dance classes is available, as well as opportunities to direct a full-length production. Students of all majors can participate in musical and nonmusical performances, actor showcases and one-act plays and performances in the College’s four theatre venues. Full-time professors and active professionals who are artist-teachers serve as faculty.
