Leadership, Ethics and Values
You’re invited to an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet Oct. 9
Oct 08, 2012
On Oct. 9, the campus community is invited to participate in the Oxfam America Hunger Banquet, one of three North Central College Global Human Rights events on campus this fall. Hosted by an FYE student class and sponsored by the Office of International Programs and Leadership, Ethics & Values program, the free event takes place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Harold and Eva White Activities Center, second floor.
At an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet, guests randomly draw tickets that assign them to different income levels, based on the number of people living in poverty. As a result, not every guest will leave with a full stomach but all will gain a greater perspective on the root causes of hunger and poverty and feel motivated to do something to help.
A representative from Oxfam America, an international relief organization that develops lasting solutions to poverty, hunger and injustice, will give a brief talk at the banquet.
