Fall Recycling Extravaganza is success

Nov 13, 2012

The results are in … for the fall Recycling Extravaganza, that is. North Central College successfully completed its first Recycling Extravaganza event on Oct. 6. The College collected scrap metal, electronics, bicycles, fire extinguishers, and school, office and art supplies. All the collected items were able to be recycled and kept out of landfills.

Here are the stats:
•    13,284 pounds of electronics and approximately 90 pounds of scrap metal were recycled through ACME Recycling.
•    Approximately 20 boxes of school, office and art supplies were taken to SCARCE to be donated to teachers in need.
•    A pick-up truck full of bikes and biking accessories was taken away by Working Bikes to be refurbished.
•    10 fire extinguishers were collected and properly disposed of by Cintas.

The event drew some 200 people from North Central College and the DuPage County area. If you have any questions about the event or are interested in additional information, please email sustainability@noctrl.edu.
