Jan 22, 2013

John Madormo, North Central College assistant professor of broadcast communication and general manager of WONC-FM 89.1, was the featured speaker at the Jan. 19 meeting of the Chicago Teacher-Librarian Association (CTLA) in Chicago. Sponsored by Children’s Plus, Inc., the meeting was open to all Chicago Public School librarians.

Madormo talked about the role of the writer and reader and his middle-grade novel mystery series with Penguin Books, titled “Charlie Collier, Snoop for Hire.” Each of the 150 librarians who attended received a free copy of his first book and copies of his second book were raffled off by Children’s Plus.

The paperback edition of his first book in the Charlie Collier series, “The Homemade Stuffing Caper,” will be released Feb. 7. Release of his second book in the series, “The Camp Phoenix Caper,” will hit bookstores on Feb. 21. His third book, “The Copycat Caper,” is set for release in fall 2013.

Madormo joined North Central’s faculty in 1980. He earned his B.A. from Northern Illinois University.
