13 North Central College student broadcasters earn 26 IBS award nominations

North Central College student broadcasters are nominated for 26 awards in a national competition—more than any other college or university radio station in the nation.
Thirteen North Central College broadcasters representing WONC-FM 89.1, the College’s student-run radio station, earned 26 nominations in the annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) competition. Winners of the Golden Microphone Trophy Awards will be announced March 2 at the 73rd Annual IBS International Radio/Webcast Conference in New York City.

Goodbred (four nominations), a senior from Earlville, is majoring in broadcast communication and interactive media studies.
Rushing (three nominations), a junior from Moline, is majoring in broadcast communication and English.
Taylor (three nominations), a junior from Naperville, is a broadcast communication major.
Ippolito (two nominations), a senior from Bartlett, is a broadcast communication major.
Jessen (two nominations), a senior from Naperville, is majoring in broadcast communication and interactive media studies.
Lanan (two nominations), a junior from St. Charles, is a broadcast communication major.
Savage (two nominations), a senior from Aurora, is a broadcast communication major.
Halick (one nomination), a sophomore from Wood Dale, is a broadcast communication major.
King (one nomination), a junior from Winfield, is a broadcast communication major.
Krug (one nomination), a junior from Naperville, is majoring in broadcast communication and interactive media studies.
Modelski (one nomination), a senior from Homer Glen, is a broadcast communication major.
John Madormo, assistant professor of broadcast communication and general manager of WONC, will accompany four students to the awards ceremony in New York and participate on three panels at a three-day conference associated with the annual IBS awards.
The IBS and Collegiate Broadcasters Inc. (CBI) are two national competitions available to college and university radio stations. WONC is among the most honored collegiate radio stations in America and has won national and state awards in commercial and collegiate competitions. The station has won 20 Marconi College Radio Awards; no other college or university radio station in the country has won more.
