A time for reflection, remembrance
Feb 04, 2013
Join the campus community at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in Koten Chapel for a nondenominational Ash Wednesday service to reflect and pray on this first day of the Lenten season.
The service will also acknowledge the 100th anniversary of the dedication of Koten Chapel, which occurred on Feb. 13, 1913, as part of the dedication of the Evangelical Theological Seminary Administration Building. North Central purchased the building in 1976. In 1979, the 100-seat chapel was rededicated as Koten Chapel in honor of Roy Y. ’20 and Margaret ’26 Koten and was completely renovated in 2006 thanks to a major gift from Jane Koten ’55 and her brother John (Jack) Koten ’51 and his wife Catherine.
Additional events to celebrate the legacy and service of Koten Chapel are planned for later this year, including recognition of the chapel’s history during Intersection, a day of community service scheduled for Saturday, April 20, and during Homecoming 2013.
