Wis presents session on choral conducting master class

Ramona Wis, North Central College Mimi Rolland Professor in the Fine Arts and professor and chair of music, presented a session titled, “Choral Conducting Master Class: Small Changes, Big Results,” at the 2013 Illinois Music Education Conference on Jan. 24 in Peoria, Ill.

Accompanied by Barbara Vanderwall, North Central adjunct assistant professor of music, Wis worked with more than 200 attendees on choral technique, gesture and pedagogy in an interactive session. The annual Illinois All-State conference draws more than 10,000 student performers, educators, conductors and exhibitors for the four-day event.

Wis joined North Central’s faculty in 1994. She received a B.S. from the University of Illinois, an M.M. from Northern Illinois University and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
