Google spotlights recent North Central College graduate in video about internships
May 22, 2013
Kitt Vanderwater, a Google employee and 2012 graduate of North Central College, is featured in a Google video about its internship opportunities.
Vanderwater, a computer science major, is profiled in a video posted to Google Students YouTube channel. As a tie-in to the upcoming premiere of “The Internship,” a movie about a pair of ex-salesmen competing against college students for a coveted internship position with Google, the company set off to profile actual Google interns who now work for the company full-time.
Vanderwater spent two summers interning with Google: the first as a software engineering intern and the second as an associate product manager (APM) intern. As an APM intern, she became a point person in the development of Google+ search prior to the site’s 2011 launch.
“I was the person who was driving the life of a product,” she said of her role in the video profile.
After graduating from North Central in June 2012, Vanderwater moved to California to work in Google’s Mountain View global headquarters—also known as the “Googleplex”—as software engineer, working on Google+ security.
