May 24, 2013

Amber Dvorak, daughter of Donna and Robert Dvorak, of Schiller Park, Ill., received two awards—the Outstanding Major in Interactive Media Studies and the Megan Sweeney Award—during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College.

A senior, Amber is majoring in interactive media studies with a focus in graphic arts with minors in print journalism and Spanish at North Central College. She is a graduate of East Leyden High School.

Amber will graduate a College Scholar and holds a near-perfect GPA. Her name regularly appears on the College’s Dean’s List. She has been involved in North Central’s student newspaper where she served on the editorial staff. Amber received a Richter Independent Study Fellowship to fund research for her honors thesis, an exploration of the process involved in creating a 3D animated short film.

Amber also presented her thesis research, titled “Jingle Lizard: An Undergraduate 3D Animated Short and Investigation Into the 3D Animation Process,” at both the College’s 2013 Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research and the 2013 National Conference on Undergraduate Research in La Crosse, Wis.

The Megan Sweeney Award represents the highest level of academic achievement and recognizes one outstanding scholar who also has contributed beyond the classroom.
