Jeremy Thurlby earns Outstanding Major in Art Award

Jeremy Thurlby of Oswego, Ill., was awarded the Outstanding Major in Art Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
A senior, Jeremy is majoring in studio art at North Central College. Focusing on 3D work, he likes constructing things with his hands. His artwork reflects his background in the trades and his talents in blacksmithing and welding.
Jeremy recently presented his works “Craniums of Clay” and “Formal Wood Sculpture: An Uncommon Method” in an exhibit at the 2013 National Conference on Undergraduate Research. He also shared “Formal Wood” in a poster presentation during the College’s 2013 Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research and was a featured artist in a two-person exhibit titled “Long Road” at North Central.
He has served as a volunteer building interpreter in the blacksmith shop at Naper Settlement, where he’s also worked as a museum educator. His name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List. Jeremy is a graduate of Oswego High School.
