Kimberly Grazulis earns three awards at Honors Convocation

Kimberly Grazulis, daughter of Ellen Akerman and John Grazulis, of Lockport, Ill., received three awards—the Outstanding Major in English writing Award, the Outstanding Major in French Award, and the Outstanding Student the Arts and Letters Division Award—during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College.
A senior, Kimberly has a double major in English writing and in French at North Central College. She is a graduate of Lockport Township High School.
On campus, she has been involved in a number of student organizations, including Blue Key leadership honor society, the North Central Review literary magazine, Cardinal Chorus and the French Club, where she serves as president. A creative writer and active student in the English department, she represented the College at the 14th annual Citywide Undergraduate Poetry Festival in Chicago. She’s also a tutor in the Writing Center, serves in the Language Resource Center, and has worked with the Summer Language Institute.
Kimberly presented her academic research in an oral presentation titled “Shakespeare Simplified: An Exploration of Romeo and Juliet Adaptations for Children” during the College’s 2013 Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research.
Her name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List, and she’s a member of the honor societies Sigma Tau Delta for English and Pi Delta Phi for French.
After Kimberly graduates, she will teach English as part of the Teaching Assistant Program in France for several months before pursuing graduate school.
