Alexander Pirela earns two awards at Honors Convocation

Alexander Pirela, son of Pablo and Barbara Pirela of West Chicago, Ill., received two awards—the Outstanding Major in Social Science/History Award and the Outstanding Service to Student Life Award—during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
A senior, Alexander is majoring in global studies/developing states and in social science/history at North Central College. He is a graduate of Community High School District 94.
Alexander has been inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma, for earning a varsity letter and maintaining a minimum grade-point average of 3.4. Alexander’s name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List.
The Outstanding Service to Student Life Award recognizes juniors and seniors who have demonstrated meaningful involvement within student life and inspire a vision for the future through service and as role models. Alexander served as a resident assistant for three years.
