Bryan Taylor earns award for outstanding service to residence life at Honors Convocation

Jun 03, 2013

Bryan Taylor, son of Sheryl Taylor of Cary, Ill., was awarded the Carleen Verstraete Outstanding Resident Student Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College. The award recognizes a student for outstanding service to residence life and is named in honor of Verstraete, a former resident assistant who was killed by a drunk driver shortly after her graduation in June 1990.

A senior, Bryan is majoring in chemistry with a minor in secondary education at North Central College. He is a graduate of Prairie Ridge High School.

Bryan has served as a resident assistant for three years in the residence halls, as a tutor and as a Legacy Ambassador, working to strengthen the connections between students and alumni. He also works with the Junior/Senior Scholars program, a college readiness program for students in high-need schools in Chicago and Aurora. Bryan’s name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List.

With his sights set on teaching, he will begin pursuing a master’s program in educational leadership and administration at North Central in fall 2013.
