Emily Stewart earns Outstanding Major in Psychology Award

Emily Stewart, daughter of Jon and Cheri Stewart of Dixon, Ill., was awarded the Outstanding Major in Psychology Award during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College.

A senior, Emily has a double major in psychology and in Spanish at North Central College. She is a graduate of Dixon High School.

Emily has presented research projects at two professional conferences of the Midwest Psychological Association. Her 2012 project was titled “Facial Width-to-Height Ratio of Males Predicts Their Aggressiveness.” She also co-presented research titled “The Effects of Survival Processing and Retention Interval on Memory” at the 2012 National Conference on Undergraduate Research. Emily’s name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List and she’s a member of Psi Chi, the psychology honor society.

She has studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain, to improve her Spanish language proficiency.

After she graduates, she will begin a fully funded Ph.D. program in child psychology at Northern Illinois University.
