Szymon Kesek earns three awards at Honors Convocation

Szymon Kesek, son of Jan Kesek and Barbara Szczepanik-Kesek of Schiller Park, Ill., received three awards during Honors Day May 14 at North Central College. Those awards are the Outstanding Major in Political Science, the Outstanding Major in Philosophy, and the Outstanding Student in the Human Thought and Behavior Division.
A junior, Szymon has a double major in political science and philosophy with a minor in history of ideas at North Central College. He is a graduate of East Leyden High School.
Szymon has been an active member of North Central’s philosophy and political science programs by writing for the student newspaper and participating with the Philosophy Club. A member of the College Scholars Honors Program, he will begin working on his undergraduate honors thesis about systemic racism in Chicago.
Szymon also earned the Outstanding Major in Philosophy Award in 2012 and his name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List. He plans to pursue a master’s program in public policy.
