Local artists exhibit their work at North Central College

North Central College will showcase a variety of artwork by members of the Naperville Art League (NAL) in the exhibit “Façades” Aug. 2 through Sept. 8.

The exhibit is free and open to the public in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. An artists’ reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2; complimentary refreshments will be served.

The exhibit will showcase selected two- and three-dimensional art pieces in a variety of media from more than 30 local artists who belong to the Naperville Art League. Focusing on the exhibit’s theme “Façades,” member artists will explore hidden truths, realities, symbols and mysteries and attempt to reveal them in their pieces.

A nonprofit organization, NAL has been inspiring passion in the arts in the community for more than 50 years. Members include both professional and emerging artists as well as hobbyists. Some are formally trained while others are self-taught. In 2009, NAL and North Central joined forces for the first summer exhibit on campus, and the relationship between the College, community and the arts has continued to flourish.
