Grammy-winning recording artist Stephanie Mills performs Sept. 21 at North Central College

Soulful songstress, actress and performer Stephanie Mills performs Sept. 21 at North Central College.

Mills is a Grammy and American Music Award-winning recording artist with six Gold albums and 10 Billboard No. 1 singles, including “I've Never Known Love Like this Before,” “Home” and “What Cha Gonna Do With My Lovin’.”

She began singing gospel in church in her native Brooklyn and by age 9 Mills was mesmerizing crowds in her Broadway musical debut “Maggie Flynn.” During her first Broadway performance, Mills shared the stage with co-stars Shirley Jones and the late Jack Cassidy.

Signed to MCA Records, Mills recorded a string of hit singles and albums including the 1987 album “If I Were Your Woman,” which reached No. 1 on the R&B Album chart and was a Top 30 pop best-seller.
Since Mills began touring again in 2001, she has shared stages with such artists such as The O’Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, The Isley Brothers, Carl Thomas, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Babyface and others.
