Registration is underway for North Central College’s winter/spring Community Education program. The lineup of inexpensive, noncredit courses is designed for professionals seeking to advance their careers, families with children who want to learn a foreign language, and hobbyists interested in home décor and photography, and much more.
“We're excited to provide youth and adult community members of all ages with a wide range of course offerings, across a variety of subjects,” said Deanna Taylor, the College’s program director of Community Education.
Among the many new offerings in the winter/spring catalog are lectures by North Central’s seasoned faculty and classes on networking within an organization, using an iPad, negotiation skills, color design and frustration-free computer use. Also new, after-school enrichment programs will be offered to children grades 1-8.
North Central offers professional development training for employees and managers, as well as entrepreneurship and career development. Computer courses include basic to advanced instruction on Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and how to build and customize websites using Drupal—a free open-source, Web-based content management system.
Additional courses feature digital photography, health and nutrition, ballroom and swing dance, sign language, creative writing, screenwriting, English as a Second Language (ESL) sessions, CPR certification, an introduction to music theory and history of Chicago sports and more.
Courses are offered from early January through May.
