Seminar for military veterans about college, career development

North Central College invites members of the military, veterans and their families to an educational seminar cohosted with US Bank Naperville and Naperville Township on Jan. 25.

Designed for current and future student veterans, the free seminar will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in North Central College’s Centennial Hall at the Harold and Eva White Activities Center, 325 E. Benton Ave., Naperville. Refreshments will be served. Seating is limited; RSVP by Jan. 21 to Renard Jackson at or 630-637-5149.

Guest speakers include Ivy Lloyd, OEF/OIF/OND program manager; Renard Jackson, North Central College veteran’s program advisor; and David Goben of US Bank Naperville, who’s also a U.S. Army staff sergeant. US Bank will provide information on home loans and on checking and savings accounts for veterans, offer advice on money management during and after deployment, and provide each participant with the US Bank Military Financial Education Workbook.

In addition, the speakers will address a range of topics that are unique to members of the military and veterans. Participants will hear about health benefits and compensation assistance, financial aid requirements, college admission, resumé development, interviewing techniques, job resources, career development, Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits and much more. Participants also are encouraged to bring their resumé for feedback and guidance on interviewing skills.
