Feb 04, 2014

Carin Silkaitis, North Central College assistant professor of theatre, chair of art and theatre and theatre program coordinator, has been cast in the critically acclaimed tragicomedy “Sons of the Prophet” by Stephen Karam. It will be staged at the American Theater Company (ATC) in Chicago with performances Jan. 31 through March 9.

Appearing in three of the seven scenes, Silkaitis will play three characters—Doctor Manor, Physician’s Assistant and Board Member 1.

“Sons of the Prophet” is a 2012 Pulitzer Prize Finalist and winner of the 2012 Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel and Hull-Warriner Awards for Best Play. The play is about a working-class Lebanese-American family and explores the inevitability of loss and our attempts to cope with its consequences. Chicago Tribune theater critic Chris Jones has highlighted the production as one of his Top 10 Winter Picks.
