Feb 06, 2014

Nancy Majewski ’74 Range, a three-sport athlete in tennis, basketball and volleyball, was honored with North Central College’s ninth Cleo Tanner Award for Outstanding Contributions to Women’s Athletics.

The Cleo Tanner Award was first awarded in 2006 to recognize the contributions of an individual who has made a positive impact at the College. Range, who majored in mathematics and health and physical education, was honored on Feb. 4 as part of the 28th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration on campus.

All female student-athletes and their coaches and faculty and staff in the athletic department met for lunch in the lobby of the Wentz Concert Hall and Fine Arts Center before the award presentation and speeches in the concert hall. Anna Alvin, volleyball graduate assistant, served as the emcee and introduced President Troy Hammond and a video presentation by NCTV about Range. The event also included talks by Range and Kris Smart, executive director of Girls on the Run-Chicago, a nonprofit organization that works to inspire girls to be healthy and confident.
