Speech Communication

Students in Group Process class showcase fundraising efforts March 11

Mar 10, 2014

Students in North Central College’s Group Process (SPC 214) class, taught by Hillary Shulman, assistant professor of speech communication, will give group presentations March 11 about their fundraising efforts for local charities.

The groups will present at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, in Madden Theatre. The campus community is invited to attend this free event, and students from the class have invited contacts from the local organizations and charities to attend, too. A dessert reception will follow the presentations.

Every term, students in the Group Process class engage in a term-long project to raise money for a local charity or nonprofit organization. In the past six years, the class has raised approximately $60,000. This term, students hope to accrue between $3,000 and $4,000 for local charities. Those charities benefitting by the efforts of the class include 360 Youth Services, Little Friends, Feed My Starving Children, North Star Foundation, Turning Pointe Autism Foundation and Emmanuel House.
