Madormo’s book for middle-grade readers is chosen for Illinois Reads campaign
Mar 19, 2014
John Madormo, North Central College assistant professor of broadcast communication and general manager of WONC-FM 89.1, was recognized by the Illinois Reading Council at a Celebration of Literacy event March 12 at the Old State Capitol Historic Site in Springfield, Ill.
The Illinois Reading Council chose Madormo’s first book, “The Homemade Stuffing Caper” in the “Charlie Collier: Snoop for Hire” series, to promote statewide in the third- to fifth-grade category for the 2014-2015 academic school year. His book will be promoted in schools, libraries and bookstores as part of the Council’s Illinois Reads annual campaign to inspire reading among people of all ages. Some 36 books—six books in each of six different categories or age groups—were chosen.
“These books range from read-to books for infants to read-aloud books for home-bound seniors and everything in between,” said Tammy Potts, president of the Illinois Reads campaign.
Madormo attended the event where he signed copies of his book and greeted fans. Among the speakers were Illinois Lt. Governor Sheila Simon and Becky Anderson, owner of Anderson’s Bookshops and committee member of Illinois Reads.
This new accolade is one of many for Madormo and his series of books for middle-grade readers. Visit charliecolliersnoopforhire.com to learn more.
