Education alumnus named to administrative position in Kaneland school district

Maple Park-based Kaneland Community Unit School District 302 has appointed North Central College alumnus Michael Purcell director of educational services 6-12.
Purcell was selected from a pool of 29 applicants and his appointment is effective July 1. He is assistant director of secondary education in Oswego Community Unit School District 308. He previously served as assistant principal of Washington Junior High School in Naperville and director of summer learning in Naperville Community Unit School District 203 after starting his career in education as a high school math teacher. He completed his certification and administrative degree at North Central College. Prior to entering the field of education Purcell worked in business management for several years.
“Purcell emerged as the top candidate at the end of a competitive interview process with a qualified field of candidates,” the Kaneland district said in a news release. “He was selected for a number of excellent reasons including his administrative experience, student focus, curriculum and leadership experience and his vision for how the department of educational services can enhance learning for students."
