Alana Shuma earns Outstanding Major in History Award

Alana Shuma of Aurora was awarded the James Henry Breasted 1890 Outstanding Major in History Award during Honors Convocation May 13 at North Central College in Naperville.
A senior, Alana is majoring in history with a minor in art history at North Central College. She is a graduate of Warren T. White High School.
A College Scholar, Alana presented her honors thesis, titled “Politics, Parlors and Mary Lincoln: The Role of the Politician’s Wife in Nineteenth Century America,” at North Central’s Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research. She also presented research titled “Petticoats, Parlors and Politics: How Mary Todd Lincoln Intertwined Domestic Duties and Politics” at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.
Alana is a member of the history honor society Phi Alpha Theta. Her name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List.
