Jun 23, 2014
Sarah Kott, daughter of Dan and Vicki Kott, of Elgin, Ill., was awarded the Mark A. Reid Freshman Leadership Award during Honors Day, May 13, at North Central College.
The award is named in honor of a former student who was tragically killed in an automobile accident in 1984 during his term in office as president of the North Central College Student Association. This award is presented to one freshman who demonstrates outstanding leadership ability, serves prominently as a positive influence in student affairs, encourages the active involvement of others in the life of the College community, and exemplifies the qualities of good citizenship associated with Mark Reid.
A freshman, Sarah is majoring in marketing and management with a minor in leadership at North Central College. She is a graduate of Harvest Christian Academy.
Sarah is a member of North Central’s volleyball team and the Photo Club and showcased her work in the 2014 Capture Photo Club Student Exhibition. She’s also involved in iLead, a leadership development program for freshman students, a weekly student-led worship team called Focus, and the College’s Scholars program. Her name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List.
In addition, Sarah was chosen by the American Association of University Women, Naperville, to attend the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders on scholarship, held June 5-7 at the University of Maryland. She was one of two local students awarded the scholarship to attend the conference.
