North Central College alumnus named principal of Oswego junior high school

James Martin, a 1981 graduate of North Central College, is the new principal of Plank Junior High School in Oswego.
The Community Unit School District 308 Board of Education approved the hiring of Martin for the position on July 30. Martin previously served as an assistant superintendent of School District 161, a K-8 district in Frankfort. He also served as principal at Liberty Junior High School in Burbank and held assistant principal positions at Summit Junior High School in Frankfort and Central Middle School in Tinley Park.
“Mr. Martin is an experienced and talented administrator who can come into School District 308 and lead from day one,” Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services John Sparlin said. “His passion is to return to the school environment and directly work with students. We are excited to have him join us.”
Martin earned a bachelor’s degree in history from North Central College in 1981 and also holds a master’s degree in educational administration.
