Alicia Wyche joins North Central’s education faculty in fall 2014

North Central College welcomed Assistant Professor of Education Alicia Wyche, a newly appointed full-time, tenure-track faculty member for the 2014-2015 academic year, which started Sept. 15.

Since 2013, Wyche has held a visiting position in education at North Central College. As a graduate student at the University of Illinois Chicago, she co-taught a master’s level course in the department of special education and was a research assistant for three federally funded Department of Education grants. Prior to graduate school, Wyche was a middle school teacher and coordinator at Nicholson School and Dodge Renaissance Academy in Chicago. Her research interests focus on improved inclusion and academic opportunities for groups of students historically marginalized and under-served within schools.

She earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Notre Dame, an M.A.T. in education with a social science endorsement from National-Louis University, and a Ph.D. in special education with a concentration in literacy and language from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
