2014 Athletic Hall of Fame: Dan Mueller ’83, six-time men’s swimming All-American
Sep 30, 2014
During Homecoming 2014, North Central College will induct Dan Mueller ’83 into the Athletic Hall of Fame on Oct. 18.
As the current record holder in the 400 individual medley for the men’s swimming program, Mueller is one of the most decorated competitors in the history of North Central College athletics. His eight individual College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) championships trail only the 12 won by Hall of Famer and Olympic Gold Medal winner Dick Blick ’62, and Mueller’s total of six NCAA All-America certificates stood as the most by any Cardinal swimmer at the time. Despite taking a year off to focus on his academics, Mueller returned to the pool his junior year, winning and competing in multiple events at the CCIW and national championships for the remainder of his career.
