Alumni, students and North Central friends: You’re invited to come home!

Oct 16, 2014

North Central College’s 2014 Homecoming Celebration is nearly here! It happens Oct. 16-19 and features many fun events—some traditional and some new.

In a tradition we began with the Sesquicentennial in 2011, the all-class Homecoming Reunion Celebration brings together current students, alumni and friends for dinner and dancing in the spacious Res/Rec Center Saturday evening, Oct. 18. This year’s popular event features a new element. The Alumni Awards and Recognition Ceremony has been moved from a convocation on Friday to Saturday night as part of the Reunion Celebration.

In addition to Saturday night, North Central College will host many other #NCWelcomeHome events, featuring concerts with Ian Anderson, Huey Lewis and The News and our student ensembles; alumni flag football, swimming, lacrosse, volleyball and spirit squad events; Enactus, marketing, education and African American association gatherings; Athletic Hall of Fame induction, parade, football game vs. Carthage College at 2 p.m. Saturday and more. There’s something for everyone and alumni classes ending in 4 and 9 are especially encouraged to come home and renew friendships with classmates. Click here for more information about these class years.

Eleven alumni will be recognized with special awards this year.

Four athletes and two coaches will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in Wentz Concert Hall. Dr. Eggert Giere ’48, swimming coach; Tim Ehlebracht ’80, three-sport athlete in baseball, football and track & field; Dan Mueller ’83, swimming; Andre Coleman ’94, track & field; Amanda Talley ’01, softball; and Amanda Orsburn ’02, basketball, are members of the 2014 Hall of Fame class. On Saturday evening, five more alumni will be honored for their outstanding contributions to their community, profession and to North Central College. Major General William Gossel ’54, Becky Anderson ’82 Wilkins and Dr. Jeff Swallow ’94 will receive Outstanding Alumni Awards. Dr. Wade Hicks ’02 will be recognized with the Alumni Recognition Award and Rev. Tom Babler ’69 will be honored on the Wall of Witness. Click here for more information about each recipient.
