North Central College Professor of Political Science Stephen Maynard Caliendo was a featured contributor to a Daily Herald story titled “How far have we come?” in which he shared his views on the state of race relations in America. The article was published on Jan. 19, a federal holiday marking the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birth.

One of three DuPage County experts in the article, Caliendo offered his answer and perspective in “Beyond consciousness, King’s dream remains elusive.” He said, “If this day is to mean more than mattress sales, we have to critically examine what it means to strive for social justice in the 21st century.” Click here to read his full commentary.

In addition, Caliendo gave political analysis on CBS 2 Chicago "Morning News" show in three segments early Wednesday, Jan. 21, about President Barack Obama’s Jan. 20 State of the Union address.
