North Central celebrates Cornerstone Day and Brilliant Future Campaign kickoff May 15
Apr 22, 2015
North Central College invites the community to attend two celebrations on Friday, May 15: the annual midday Cornerstone Day Picnic and an evening Kickoff Celebration for the Brilliant Future Campaign.
The free Cornerstone Day Picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Jefferson Plaza, located on the lawn east of Brainard Street at Jefferson Avenue. The event will feature sample cuisine provided by Chartwells—the College’s food service provider—and several Naperville restaurants. Entertainment will be provided by talented North Central College student performers. In the event of rain, the picnic will be held in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave.
Cornerstone Day commemorates the College’s 1870 move to Naperville and the laying of the cornerstone for Old Main.
The black tie-optional Brilliant Future Campaign Kickoff Celebration begins with a reception at 6 p.m. Friday, May 15, in the Residence Hall/Recreation Center, 440 S. Brainard St. A program and dinner commence at 7 p.m., followed by dancing. Admission is $50 per person, and tables of 10 may be reserved for $500. Reservations are requested by May 1 and may be made by calling 630-637-5213.
The Brilliant Future Campaign includes an upgrade to the College’s academic facilities, with a new Science Center as the essential cornerstone. The Campaign will also grow the endowment to support student scholarships, excellence in teaching by world-class faculty and academic opportunities for students.
