North Central College’s department of religious studies invites students, faculty and staff to attend any or all of the series of events this spring that focus on the contemplative dimension of human experience. The events take place May 6, 13 and 20.
Short presentations by practitioners from diverse traditions will be followed by contemplative exercises; participation in the exercises is entirely optional.
Here’s the lineup; all dates fall on Wednesday:
• May 6, Mindfulness Meditation: 4 p.m. in Smith Hall. Speaker is Stephanie Frantz of Joy Meditation.
• May 13, Sufi Meditation: 4 p.m. in Smith Hall. Ronald Harris of Chicago Sufi Center will present a talk, titled “The bridge that must be crossed,” about a spiritual discipline that’s dedicated to the selfless service and love of all human beings.
• May 20, Mindfulness Meditation: 4 p.m. in the Community Gathering Room at Kiekhofer Hall. Speaker is Stephanie Frantz of Joy Meditation.
