Senior Art Show features a diverse body of work

Artwork by 10 North Central College art students will be featured in the annual Senior Art Show, May 8 through June 14. Titled “Perspectives,” the 2015 Senior Art Show features a diverse body of work.

Free and open to the public, the exhibit will be on display in two gallery locations. The College’s Meiley-Swallow Hall Gallery, 31 S. Ellsworth St., will be open daily, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Artwork in Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St., will be on display Monday through Thursday 7:45 a.m. to midnight, Fridays 7:45 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays noon to midnight.

The senior artists will greet visitors during a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, in both galleries; complimentary refreshments will be served.

Exhibitors for the 2015 Senior Art Show are:

•    Damon Blythe of Aurora, majoring in studio art, will exhibit drawings and paintings
•    Alex Deeter of Plainfield, majoring in graphic arts and studio art, will present paintings and drawings
•    Drew French of Sugar Grove, majoring in marketing and studio art, will showcase sculpture, drawings and paintings
•    Lex Gordon of Joliet, majoring in studio art, will display photography and sculpture
•    Elizabeth Havenga of Downers Grove, majoring in studio art and theatre, presents black and white canvas drawings and paintings
•    Nicholas Hayes of Lemont, majoring in interactive media studies/graphic arts and studio art, will show various mixed media, including paintings, sculptures and graphic design
•    Jasmine Hobbs of Plainfield, majoring in studio art, Japanese and East Asian studies, will present manga or drawings of Japanese comics
•    Michael Perez of Franklin Park, majoring in graphic arts and studio art, will exhibit concept and game art in drawings and paintings
•    Jenna Szerszen of South Elgin, majoring in studio art with a minor in art history, will present acrylic and oil paintings and traditional tattoo-style pen and ink
•    Katherine Tarchala of Winfield, majoring in studio art with a minor in psychology, will showcase acrylic drawings of animal and human figures

Art, art history and art education are among more than 55 undergraduate majors offered at North Central College. Art students at North Central College learn traditional and contemporary media; engage in analytical, critical and abstract thinking; and learn to communicate ideas visually. Students attend gallery and museum openings and exhibits in Naperville and Chicago, meet visiting artists, enter juried exhibitions and gain an academic foundation for graduate study in studio art, art education, art history, art therapy, arts administration, art criticism and visual communications.
