President Hammond gave Commencement address at his alma mater

May 13, 2015

North Central College President Troy D. Hammond, Ph.D., delivered the Commencement address at his alma mater, Milligan College. Commencement was celebrated May 8-9.

Hammond’s address incorporated his professional and personal journey since graduating from Milligan in 1989. He also encouraged the Class of 2015 to “please go away” in order to boldly take on the servant-leadership challenges for which they have prepared and to “please don’t forget your alma mater.”

Hammond graduated magna cum laude from Milligan with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He went on to earn a second undergraduate degree, a B.S. in physics in 1990 at Georgia Tech, and a Ph.D. in experimental atomic physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has served as the 10th president of North Central College since January 1, 2013. Click here to read Hammond’s profile.
