Seven North Central College faculty receive tenure, promotions

At its May 2015 meeting, the North Central College Board of Trustees granted tenure and approved promotions to several faculty members effective with the start of the 2015-2016 academic year in September. These faculty are:

Leila Azarbad, Ph.D., was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of psychology

Mara Berkland, Ph.D, was promoted to professor of speech communication

Alberto Fonseca, Ph.D., was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of Spanish

Allison Hayes, CPA, was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of accounting

Jennifer Keys, Ph.D., was promoted to professor of sociology

Carin Silkaitis was promoted to associate professor of theatre

Daniel “Rocky” VanHorn, Ph.D., was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of psychology

The Board also approved emeritus status for Thomas Sawyer, Ph.D., professor of psychology, and emerita status for Judy Walters, associate professor of computer science. Both will be formally awarded the emeritus/a status at North Central’s 150th Commencement on June 13.
