Abigail Escatel '15 earns two Outstanding Major in Communication Awards

Abigail Escatel, daughter of Rafael and Maria Escatel, of Riverside, Ill., was awarded the 2014 and 2015 Outstanding Major in Communication Award during Honors Convocation events at North Central College.

A graduating senior, Abigail majored in speech communication. She is a graduate of Willowbrook High School.

Abigail is a member of North Central’s forensics and debate team and was one of four North Central debaters who jointly earned the title State of Illinois Champion last year. In addition, she is one of the top six people nationwide in Rhetorical Criticism, according to the National Comprehensives Tournament. When she transferred to North Central, she was chosen to receive the select Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. Her name has regularly appeared on the Dean’s List.

Abigail plans to pursue a Ph.D. and career in higher education with the dream of becoming a college president.
