Caitlin Skrbec ’15 earns Outstanding Major in Music Education Award

Caitlin Skrbec ’15, daughter of Bradford and Eileen Skrbec of Naperville, was awarded the Outstanding Major in Music Education Award during Honors Day in May at North Central College.  

A graduating senior, Caitlin majored in choral and instrumental music education at North Central College. She is a graduate of Neuqua Valley High School.

A member of Concert Winds, Caitlin has performed in a variety of recitals and is a part-time studio instructor. She served as vice president of North Central’s Women’s Chorale and Concert Winds and as president of the College’s National Association for Music Education chapter. She is a member of the education honorary society Kappa Delta Pi and her name regularly appeared on the Dean’s List.

In 2014, she presented her research, titled “The Effect of Age, Prior Knowledge and Experience on the Ability to Demonstrate Connections Between Musical Elements and Pictorial Representations,” at North Central’s Rall Symposium for Undergraduate Research and the National Conference for Undergraduate Research.

Caitlin will begin her position as a music teacher at Walden Elementary School in Deerfield, Ill.
