Jun 30, 2015
Registration begins July 6 for North Central College’s 2015 fall community noncredit programs. The programs are offered from September to November and cover a range of topics, including health and wellness, professional development, computer training, language education and general interest.
Whether students are age 7 or 70, every community member can find courses to enjoy.
“We are making changes to our noncredit offerings to more closely align with the strengths of the College,” says Troy Bristow, director of Conference Services, Camps and Noncredit Programs at North Central. “We strive to determine what classes are in demand for professional and business development, language and culture, computers and other areas of study, and then we search out the most qualified instructors available that have current experience in those areas.”
Among the many new and diverse offerings in the fall catalog are courses on Spanish for beginners and methods of sharpening creative writing skills. Nearly a dozen new professional workshops include instruction on conducting successful board meetings and refining group presentation skills. An interactive workshop designed to assist women in career transition also offers valuable information for women reentering the workforce, changing careers or searching for a new job.
Business and technology training converge in unique classes on networking with LinkedIn and utilizing the iPad for both work and home. An assortment of computer classes range from mastering beginner Microsoft Word skills to learning how to create websites with Drupal—a free open source, web-based content management system.
Additional courses feature water aerobics, mindfulness meditation, ballroom and swing dancing, beginner and intermediate Japanese, photography basics, voice and string lessons, oil painting, voice acting, creative writing, piano and a tour of Chicago’s Merchandise Mart.
